Fohlio

Web Design

I led Fohlio's end-to-end product redesign, introducing AI-assisted workflows and a unified design system for architecture and construction teams.

Fohlio is a project management platform designed for architecture and construction professionals. It helps teams specify, source, and manage materials and products across complex projects.

Duration

Q3 2024 – Q1 2026

Challenge

The platform had grown organically over years, resulting in inconsistent UI patterns, fragmented workflows, and a steep learning curve for new users. Teams were spending too much time navigating the system instead of focusing on their projects.

The redesign needed to modernize the interface, introduce AI-powered features, and establish a scalable design system—all while maintaining backward compatibility with existing projects.

Before: Fragmented interface with inconsistent patterns

Project Analytics

Released Q3 2025

Problem

  • Teams lacked visibility into project health, budget tracking, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.

My Approach

  • Designed a comprehensive analytics dashboard that surfaces key metrics at a glance while allowing drill-down into specific project details. Prioritized the most critical KPIs based on user research with project managers.

Outcome

  • Project managers reported 40% faster decision-making and improved budget forecasting accuracy.

Transform project data into clear, actionable priorities. Stay informed and confidently determine next steps.

Workflow
Unification

Q4 2025

Problem

  • Users struggled with context-switching between different modules, leading to inefficient workflows and cognitive overload.

My Approach

  • Redesigned the navigation architecture to provide consistent access to core features while introducing contextual workflows that adapt based on user tasks. Implemented breadcrumbs and quick-access shortcuts.

Outcome

  • Early testing shows 35% reduction in clicks to complete common tasks and improved user satisfaction scores.

A consistent, modern interface that strengthens Fohlio’s brand, simplifies navigation, and keeps users engaged

Library Update

Q4 2025

Problem

  • The existing library system was cluttered and difficult to navigate, making it hard for users to find and manage materials and products.

My Approach

  • Restructured the information architecture with improved categorization, filtering, and search capabilities. Added bulk actions and smart collections to streamline library management.

Outcome

  • Designed to reduce time spent searching for materials by 50% and improve library organization workflows.

The redesigned side sheet introduces a cleaner layout and flexible split view, enabling users to browse products and view key details side-by-side without switching screens.

Search by Image

Q4 2025

Problem

  • Users often had reference images but no product names, making it impossible to find matching items in the system.

My Approach

  • Integrated AI-powered visual search that allows users to upload images and find similar products in the library. Designed the upload flow to be intuitive and provide clear feedback on match quality.

Outcome

  • Expected to dramatically reduce time spent on product sourcing
    and improve specification accuracy.

New image-based search and Google Lens integration enable faster product discovery, linking moodboards and photos to real items while broadening Fohlio’s use from ideation through execution.

Similar Items

Q4 2025

Problem

  • When products were unavailable or over budget, users had no easy way to discover alternatives with similar specifications.

My Approach

  • Designed an AI-powered recommendation system that suggests similar items based on style, specifications, and price range. Created a comparison view to help users evaluate alternatives quickly.

Outcome

  • Designed to increase product specification completion rates and reduce project delays due to unavailable items.

Similar Items leverages Fohlio’s Smart Search to help designers quickly find comparable products for discontinued items, improving flexibility, reducing procurement delays, and advancing intelligent sourcing across the platform.

Prototypes &
Packages

Q4 2025

Problem

  • Creating and managing product packages for different project types was time-consuming and error-prone.

My Approach

  • Introduced a template system that allows users to create reusable packages and prototypes. Designed flexible customization options while maintaining consistency across projects.

Outcome

  • Expected to reduce package creation time by 60% and improve consistency across similar projects.

The redesigned Prototypes feature strengthens links between packages and projects with adaptable templates that support grouping, early cost estimation, and seamless exports, enhancing flexibility for diverse workflows and industries like hospitality.

Table Reskin

Q4 2025

Problem

  • Data tables were the most-used component but suffered from poor readability, limited functionality, and inconsistent styling.

My Approach

  • Redesigned tables with improved typography, better spacing, and enhanced interaction patterns. Added features like column customization, inline editing, and improved sorting/filtering.

Outcome

  • Currently in development with positive feedback from early user testing on readability and usability improvements.

The Table Reskin introduces a standardized, modern design for all tables, improving readability, consistency, and usability across the platform.

Design System & Process

Navigation Framework

Consistent navigation patterns across all modules with contextual breadcrumbs and quick actions.

Data Table Rules

Standardized table components with sorting, filtering, and inline editing capabilities.

Design Tokens

Comprehensive token system for colors, typography, spacing, and elevation.

These patterns established consistency across modules and sped up development

Outcomes & Learnings

The ongoing Fohlio redesign is transforming a fragmented experience into a more cohesive and modern platform built to scale with user needs. By introducing smarter workflows and a unified design system, we’re laying the groundwork for faster iteration and sustainable growth.

This process has taught me how to balance innovation with familiarity, how to introduce new patterns without disrupting what users already trust. It’s also reinforced the value of systematic thinking in design, where every component and interaction contributes to a stronger, more connected product ecosystem.

Key Learnings

  • Design systems drive clarity Standardizing patterns across navigation and tables made collaboration faster and more consistent.

  • Small automations create big impact Streamlining everyday workflows saved time and reduced friction for teams.

  • Clarity beats complexity
Simplifying information flow mattered more than adding new functionality.

Working on Fohlio taught me how to bring order to complex, data-rich systems.

Exactly the type of challenge that excites me about Junior!
